we're engaged!

The word is out...Chris and I are engaged!  Here's the story...

Chris suggested that we go to La Grange to have dinner with friends for my birthday.  Of course I agreed, because I'm always up for hanging out with those fun people.  He picked me up from church after the day-long Easter egg hunt on Saturday, and we made our trek to LG.  When he picked me up, he made sure to show me my birthday present, but told me I would get it "sometime before dinner."  I'm not patient.  That car ride was not fun.

On our way to LG, we passed by camp.  Much to my surprise, Chris turns off the country paved road and on to the mile long dirt road I know so well.  He then asks if I'd like my present.  Well, yes of course I would like my present.  But first, he has a song for me to listen to that has a clue in it.  He plays All Your Life by The Band Perry, and I'm stumped.  I make a few lame guesses, but none of them are satisfactory.  (Side note - the first time I played this song for Chris, I ooooo-ed and awwwww-ed over how cute it was, while he rolled his eyes).

By this time, we've driven up to the chapel.  We get out of the car, and he grabs my present from the back seat and we head inside.  We walk up to the front, and Chris FINALLY lets me open my present.  Inside I find these:

They are glass jars with LEDs (the future of lighting) in them that glow like fireflies (a light bulb should go off in your head now, that's the tie in to the song...).  He opened up one of the jars and showed me the LEDs with a very nice ring hanging on it.  Now, I can't really remember exactly what he said, but it was something about fireflies, and it ended with "but only if you'll marry me."  Well, I said, "sure, why not?"  Actually, I said "yes of course."  Then, a moment later I'm pretty sure I said, "wait, this is for reals, right?"

And there you go, that's the story.  Well done, Christopher :)

Here's a picture in the chapel right after we got engaged.

And then we went to dinner with a bunch of friends in LG, and one of them threw a baby at Chris.  Good thing he caught her!

I think MiLisa might have been the most excited...

And no, we don't have a date, or a dress, or colors, or flower girls, or a place yet.  You'll know when it's time.
