the week in a nutshell.
Here's my week in a nutshell:
Sunday - poured rain and lightning during registration which doesn't
work well for the hayride that is supposed to take kids to their
cabins since it's not covered. So, I sent Corbin to get the 15
passenger mini bus to transport kids instead. He ran the top of it
into a tree. We had to use a chainsaw to cut the tree to get the bus
out.
Monday - Ian ran the camp truck into a tree and put a huge dent in the
side of it and then said "it's just the camp truck, no big deal!"
Then, we found out that Rachael has lice. So I got to learn all about
lice and check every staff members head then put the shampoo on her
and pick out all the eggs. She has hair down to her waist. Kaia
helped me and we stayed up until 1 am picking the eggs out of her
hair.
Tuesday - We found out that Trey decided to get a tatoo this
weekend, which is against the rules. We don't mind if they have
tatoos, but they can't add them during the summer because it draws the
focus away from the kids. Especially because Trey is a lifeguard and
when you get a tatoo you can't get it wet for at least a week. Not
sure how he was going to save someone's life if he can't get in the
pool because of his tatoo.
Wednesday - poured rain during all camp, so we went into the chapel instead. A kid got his foot slammed in the door and had to go to the emergency room. Where is all this rain coming from?!
Thursday - we found 3 campers with lice. two of them came to camp with it and were told to be quiet and not talk about it. they gave it to the third camper. nurse mary and i got to de-lice them all morning. later that night, the kid who had to go to the emergency room couldn't remember what he had for dinner and couldn't keep his eyes in focus. we almost took him to the emergency room again, but turns out he was just dehydrated.
Friday - last day of camp! we'll see what happens today...

galveston
wednesday of this week was amazing. i got to have an entire day off...in the middle of the week! bascially, matt is going on a cruise right after camp ends (actually, a little before camp actually ends) so he feels guilty. when he feels guilty, i get things - like a day off of work :) bring on the guilt!

chris was able to get the day off too, so we went to galveston island and went to the beach and to the strand. chris hates pictures, but i finally got the two of us in the same picture.

and here's a pretty standard sara picture...
all over galveston there is still so much destruction from ike. the juxtaposition between the new construction and the old is shocking. here's a picture of how high the water got.
