a fun day with the gaertners!

i spent the day with milisa, trevor, and justin. we went to horseshoe junction which has bumper boats, go carts, mini golf, a rock wall, jumpy things, as well as an indoor arcade. i caught up with them after going out to lunch and getting my nails done with the girls :)

somehow both of the boys ended up winning over 250 EACH! they were pretty lucky.

good timing

i just happened to be driving up to camp with my camera in my car just after it rained and just as the sun was setting...that's a lot of things that don't normally happen, all wrapped up into one. and here's the picture. this is only about the 5th rainbow i've seen since i've lived in texas...so it's kind of a big deal.

little kids

last week we had a camp full of 1st to 6th graders, and man were they crazy! we have lots of good quotes and stories, but this one is the best one told only with words...some of them just need actions!!

so trey and pedro were the staff for cabin 2 with 9 alpha boys. the alpha program is our youngest program and they just completed 1st grade, although somehow a few kindies got in there too. one night at about 2 in the morning, the little hand taps trey and says "there's a mummy in my bed!" of course trey says "no there's not, go back to bed. everything's fine." the little kid is persistant, and says again "no really, there's a mummy in my bed!" so trey climbs down from the top bunk and goes to the child's bed. trey starts poking around, and sure enough, there is a small body wrapped up in a sheet laying in the child's bed! trey realizes it's another camper from that cabin, and when the other camper realizes it, he says "oh yeah...i asked him to sleep in my bed because i was scared." haha!

watch out for those invited mummies in your beds!

the other stories involve a naked camper standing in front of the airconditioner saying "this feels so good!" little kids crack me up.

another favorite story from this summer happened during a night worship. our bible study theme this year is spiritlife, so we're teaching about the holy spirit. so one night during worship the cabins are supposed to sit together and write down ways that they want the holy spirit to move them this week. the suggestions were things like giving them courage on the ropes course, or helping them to get along with their cabin, things like that. well, one kid couldn't get close to write something down so he says to his friend "hey jimmy, put me down for a bike!"

kids are so great.

4th of july

here's a preview of what's to come...

chris and i played slip and slide baseball with some fun friends at their grandparent's farm. i took about 300 pictures in 24 hours, so i'm sure you'll see more when i have more time.

we also went to the round top parade. round top is a tiny little town north of camp that has a population of 77 people. it sure makes for a great parade!

more later, it's time for bed now!

sunset!

i actually got my camera out and took some pictures yesterday! i like how some of them turned out, although they weren't what i was looking for. i actually printed some out at walmart today, although i really don't like the quality of printing in the little la grange walmart (which is under going a huge renovation right now btw! it was so outdated it was still brown - as opposed to blue - even though now some walmarts are green! we're moving up in the world.)

anyways, here are some pictures. i was trying to get out of my photography box a little bit.

please let me know what you think :)
