MERRY CHRISTMAS!

merry christmas from colorado!

the colorado wittes are having a fun time relaxing and being lazy this christmas. i arrived in colorado on the 23rd, and rachel arrived on the 24th. we went to church together at black forest lutheran for christmas eve service and then headed home to a wonderful dinner of ..... well, here's a picture :)

our dinner included hummus, shrimp cocktail, 3 kinds of sushi, pizza rolls, chips with guacamole, potstickers, edimome (i think i spelled that wrong, sorry), banana bread, and nacho cheese doritos. that's what happens when you let me go shopping :) it was delicious, and i know you all are jealous!

i think my favorite present of the night was mom's new shirt.

it says "My name is Joyce, tell me your life story." that's now an inside joke here, because everytime mom goes somewhere like the grocery store or walmart, she always ends up hearing the most random things about people's lives. so now she has a shirt to encourage that type of behavior, haha.

we took the standard colorado witte christmas picture:

and then we acted a little more normal...

and now we're headed to the cabin! talk to y'all later :)

it's been a while...

well, it's been a while since the last "real" post. i thought i should catch you all up on life here. so here are a few bullet points from the last few weeks.

-it snowed in texas! (people are still arguing about if it was snow or sleet, but we'll just call it snow and get on with life!)
-i went to tahoe and there was real snow and real mountains and really great sunsets and really great people, camp people (my favorite!)
-i went to indiana for thanksgiving and saw pretty much ALLLLL of the family, including 3 new baby cousins!
-i set up my own baby christmas tree in my house. and it's starting to feel like christmas with the cold weather in texas! (it's frozen a few times!)
-we hosted a wedding at camp.
-we have 3 weeks of advent retreats (the third one this weekend...) and the numbers for the retreats are bigger than last year! (which is really good news for our budget...i mean the number of kids who get to experience camp)
-all of our heaters quit two weekends ago when it got to 34 degrees at night...turns out that the 220 V power went out and that's why the heaters weren't working. thank goodness we don't have to buy new heating units!
-i went to rei to buy christmas presents and one of the employees said "i have this $20 off coupon, would you like it?" um.....YES PLEASE!
-i went to two continuing ed classes - behavior interviewing and managing and supervising people. both very interesting and i learned a lot.
-i get to go to colorado in just over a week! i'm so excited for snow and christmas and winter and friends and family!
-i've been hanging out in houston a lot lately...turns out it's not as bad as i thought ;)
-i really hate how crowded the malls are, but christmas shopping must be done.

ok, guess that's all for now. i hope you enjoy this post, cuz who knows when the next one will be!
